history

In September of 1988 a church was birthed under the oversight of the Alberta & NWT District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. (PAOC) Rev. Doug Stiller commuted most weekends from Edmonton until a pastor was found to pioneer this work. With 22 people at its beginning the church was born...

Pastor Roy & Marilyn Holmquist arrived in February 1989. The church first met at W.O.Mitchell School in the community of Silver Springs NW, Calgary. The church's first name would be changed from North West Pentecostal Church to North West Family Church as the vision for the community began to grow.

The church moved to the Bearspaw Community Center (Lifestyle Center) until the completion of phase one of their new home in September 1999 followed by the completion of phase two in July of 2001.

The church continues to grow from the few people who voted to build in 1998. Many new families have been added to the family since those early years, and relationships continue to grow stronger each day.

Pastor Roy & Marilyn have a heart for the city and the world as they endeavor to equip the church with a vision to Win Souls and Make Disciples.

There have been a number of support staff changes over the years, but in 2007 Joseph & Danielle Battiston joined the pastoral team as Student Ministries Pastors. They give leadership to the youth & children's departments. In October of 2009 their family grew with the addition of Gabriella Faith. She is a wonderful little girl in every way.

In April 2010 the main intersection in front of the church was closed due to Road changes and preparation for the LRT station to built adjacent to the church property. This now requires an additonal 6 kilometer commute to arrive at the church property.
