North West Family Church LOVING GOD... LOVING PEOPLE... History In September, 1988 a church was birthed under the oversight of the Alberta & NWT District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC). Rev. Doug Stiller commuted most weekends from Edmonton District office until a pastor was found to pioneer this work. With 22 people at its beginning North West Pentecostal Church was born. Pastor Roy and Marilyn Holmquist arrived in February, 1989. The church first met at W.O. Mitchell School in Silver Springs. The church's name would later be changed to North West Family Church as the vision for the community began to grow. The church moved to Bears-paw Community Center until the completion of phase one of their new home in September, 1999 followed by the completion of phase two in July, 2001. The church continues to grow from the 65 people who voted to build in
1998. Many new individuals have been added to the family since those early
years, and relationships continue to grow Pastor Roy and Marilyn have a heart for the city and the world as they endeavor to equip the church with a vision to Win Souls and Make Disciples. Our Pastors
Their pioneering spirits took them onward to Westbank, BC where they pioneered a church, and then on to Mission, BC to a well established Pentecostal Church. Winter 1989 found the Holmquist family moving, during a cold snap, to Calgary to pioneer once more - North West Family Church. This has been their home since then and has seen many exciting changes to their lives and ministry. Roy and Marilyn have had a vision for Calgary that continues to grow, and a passion for people that drives their vision of loving God...loving people. |
